You can stop imagining. We ARE That Place! And we aren’t the only ones who think so: Hospice of Marion County, Inc., and Its Affiliated Companies was named one of the “Best Small/Medium Companies to work for in America” in 2004, 2005 and 2006. The award, which is sponsored by the Great Place to Work® Institute, Inc. GPTW and the Society for Human Resources Management (SHRM) announces the winners each year at the SHRM National Conference. “We share a special bond because of the work we do,” says Roy Hoxworth, Director of Human Resources for the agency. “Our staff is totally dedicated to our mission and will do anything to ensure that our patients, their families, and members of the community receive the highest quality service and compassionate care.” “Employees go out of their way to show their respect and support for one another and for their customers,” added Alice J. Privett, president/ CEO. In 2005, we were the only Florida-based company to be recognized and the only healthcare agency to make the list in the mid-size category. Selected participants for the Best Small & Medium Companies to Work for in America are judged with two-thirds of the scoring based on the Great Place to Work® Trust Index®, an anonymous employee survey that evaluates five key areas such as management credibility, respect, fairness, pride and camaraderie. The other one-third of the evaluation is based on the completion of an overall corporate culture questionnaire. Over 1,200 companies applied for the prestigious award and 25 are selected from throughout the nation in the mid-size category. The team consists of more than 400 professional employees and more than 430 volunteers who serve nearly 1,000 patients a day. Each of the Hospice of Marion County member companies is a not-for-profit organization. “As Chairman of the Board of Directors for Hospice of Marion County Inc., and Its Affiliated Companies, I would like to express our extreme sense of pride for the recognition as one of the best places to work in America,” said John Reger, 2006 Chairman of the Board of Directors. “We are truly fortunate to have a company of this caliber as a part of our community.” The scores were high in all categories and outstanding in: pride, fairness and credibility. The corporate culture includes such benefits as massage therapy for employees, Adopt a Senior Manager Program, and participation in Leadership Team meetings. Also, as of 2001,more than 80% of Hospice’s employees have completed training in Stephen Covey’s “The Seven Habits of Highly Effective People.” Because of the very stringent screening requirements for applicants, extensive orientation of new employees and staff development of all employees, the turnover rate is under 15% (which is only one-third of the national healthcare turnover average.) Because we hire the best, employees know that they are, without a doubt, our #1 asset. Hospice of Marion County, Inc., and its Affiliated Companies consists of:
