Slated for Nov. 6, 2010

The 7th Annual Steel Horse Stampede motorcycle ride is gearing up for its journey through Marion County on November 6, 2010 under the leadership of Grand Marshals Ruth Goldstine, Whitfield Jenkins and Lillian Vachon, all of whom are HMC Volunteers.

The event serves as a fundraiser to benefit patient care at Hospice of Marion County, Inc. Last year, 365 riders raised more than $16,000 at this event.

Participants may pre-register by calling (352) 854-5218 or register the day of the event at Hospice of Marion County’s Education Center at 3231 SW 34th Ave. in Ocala.

Registration begins at 8 am with a start time of 10 am. The cost is a minimum donation of $25 for the first rider and $15 for a passenger. The donation includes two meals – a light breakfast and a barbeque lunch catered by Tommy’s BBQ following the ride – plus 50 door prizes, a 50/50 drawing, and entertainment by the NIGHTSHIFT Band.

Stampede participants will take a 55-mile ride through Marion County, escorted by motorcycle units from Florida Highway Patrol, Marion County Sheriff’s Office, and Ocala Police Department. Along the way are scheduled stops at each of the four Hospice Houses. Riders will get a close-up view of the beautiful houses available for the area’s hospice patients.

For more information about the ride, contact (352) 854-5218 or to inquire about the many services Hospice of Marion County has to offer, call (352) 873-7400.
