At Hospice of Marion County, our mission is to provide exceptional support for patients and their families in the comfort of their own homes—86% of our patients are able to spend their last days in the place they call home.
Our goal is to provide this professional service of pain relief and symptom management to as many people as possible, so that everyone may live out their days with the highest quality of life possible. For management of acute symptoms, patients find relief at one of our three conveniently located Hospice Houses, which provides(delete the s) an inpatient level of care. Once symptoms are under control they may return home.
Who is Eligible?
Home-based hospice care is available to those who live in Marion County. “Home” is defined as one’s private residence, an assisted living facility, nursing home or even the hospital. Patients cared for in our Hospice Houses do not have to be Marion county residents. Care is available to people of all ages, including children, with any end-stage diagnosis, not just cancer.
When a cure is no longer available, the specialized care teams work closely with the patient’s personal physician to create an individualized plan of care for each patient
Hospice care is covered by Medicare, Medicaid and most insurance companies. Memorials and support contributions are directed toward unfunded patient care. Our policy never excludes service to anyone who is eligible, regardless of ability to pay. Since 1983, our hospice has been the only 501 (c) 3 nonprofit organization licensed by the State of Florida and certified by Medicare in Marion County.
