We hope you are inspired to join our Volunteer Team at Hospice of Marion County! There are a few steps that must be accomplished along the way:
At the interview, you will be asked to complete some additional paperwork such as your permission to conduct a background screen. (This is required for all new volunteers and employees). If you will be volunteering in any of our Hospice Houses or visiting with hospice patients, you will also need to obtain a TB skin test. This will be provided by our staff at no cost to you. After your background screen is cleared, you will be scheduled to attend Volunteer Orientation. Orientation is held the first Thursday of each month in the Administration Building from 9:00am – 3:30pm. This session is required for all volunteers regardless of where they choose to serve (Patient Support, Houses, Thrift Stores, Fundraisers, etc.) If you will be visiting with patients, then you will also attend a second day of training specific to patient support. This training is held the first Friday of every month, in the Administration Building from 9:00am – 3:30pm. It seems like a lot of steps, doesn’t it? Please know that all the requirements have been developed to provide you with as much information and support as possible so that you are confident in your new volunteer role. The program is also designed to assure the safety of our patients and families and most importantly – to maximize our continued level of excellent hospice care. And the rewards you experience as a volunteer will be worth it – guaranteed!
