Hospice of Marion County Annual Appeal
35 years and counting…
From its humble beginnings in 1983 to growing into the third largest healthcare provider in the area, Hospice of Marion County has earned a reputation of innovation, caring and excellence over its 35-year history.
On its anniversary, Hospice of Marion County celebrates its history as well as its future. As the county’s only not-for-profit hospice, our challenges are many but our resolve is commitment, compassion and comfort for those in our care, today and every day. You can help make that happen. Please give generously. These are but a few of those who benefit from your caring:
Gerda Wikander— at 104 years old, Gerda was spry enough to celebrate her birthday with family, friend and hospice workers. She wore a tiara for the occasion. Gerda went “home” to the Adirondacks for one last summer where she spent her youth.
William Donovan—a WWII Marine and Vietnam-era pilot in the Air America campaign, Donovan was a quiet hero who outlived his wife. At 92, he took his last breath in our hospice house. Two days before his passing, the hospice nurse arranged for a special farewell phone call from President George H.W. Bush, his fellow war buddy.
Oliver DeBorde is just 20 months old. Suffering from a congenital cardiac condition called HLHS, his prognosis is touch and go, a tenuous position for his anxious parents. Oliver’s care team has rallied around the family just as his mother prepares for the birth of another child.
Want to know how Oliver is doing? Check out his Facebook page, www.facebook.com/olivers.heart/.
Your gift makes a difference Oliver, Gerda and William, and so many others.
