Hospice of Marion County’s Amy Rath Receives National ADEC Award

Amy Rath, HMC children’s program counselor, receives ADEC Award

Hospice of Marion County (HMC) is pleased to announce that its Children’s Program Counselor Amy Rath, LCSW, has received national recognition winning the 2019 Clinical Practice Award from the Association for Death Education and Counseling (ADEC) during its 41st Annual Conference April 9-13, 2019.

“This is a huge honor for Amy, but also for Hospice of Marion County’s bereavement program,” said HMC CEO Rick Bourne.

“We’ve all known and recognized Amy’s special expertise in counseling children,” said Jessica McCune, director of Bereavement Services at the Monarch Center at Sylvia’s, “but this is very significant for others around the country to recognize her talents in this manner.”

Ms. Rath has been with Hospice of Marion County for 18 years, serving many Marion County children and their families. Prior to coming to Hospice of Marion County, she worked for a North Carolina hospice and also worked for the North Carolina Department of Children and Families. She has also served as a school social worker in South Florida as well as worked as a therapist in private practice. Rath holds both Bachelor’s and Master’s degrees in Social Work, is a Licensed Clinical Social Worker with more than 30 years of experience in her field and is a Certified Life Coach.
