Companion Visits to Hospice Patients
Volunteers provide much-needed companionship and support for Hospice patients, visiting them in a private home, nursing home or assisted living facility. Activities might include conversation and reminiscing, playing a game, holding a hand or listening to concerns. This is the essence of hospice care and all you need is a loving heart and willingness to help others.
Volunteers believe the blessings they receive through their service always exceed their expectations. They give of themselves but receive so much more in return!
Companion Visits to Transitions Clients
Transitions provides support services to local residents with chronic health conditions who are not yet ready for hospice. Volunteers provide a vital link for people who need a ride to doctor’s visit, help for caregivers who need a break to run errands, and a friendly face to cheer those who days seem long and difficult. Nearly 200 local residents are served by the Transitions program and many have to wait several months for a volunteer, so you can make a big difference by giving your time a half day a week.
